The North East Area Labor Council is a coalition representing over 40,000 workers. Its' affiliates include the Iron Range Labor Assembly, the Duluth Central Labor Body, the Carlton County Central Labor Body, and Minnesota AFL-CIO affiliates in Northeastern Minnesota. Our goal is to constantly and consistently enhance the mobilization efforts of the labor movement in Northeastern Minnesota to better the lives of working people.
To accomplish this mission, we work to:
- Build a broad movement of Minnesota workers by helping workers join and form unions.
- Support Minnesota workers as they bargain with employers to improve their living conditions and workplaces, as well as their communities, state and nation.
- Strengthen the voice of Minnesota working families at all levels of government and in a changing global economy.
The North East Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO is a key part of the nation's largest and strongest labor federation—the AFL-CIO, which unites 10.5 million working women and men of every race and ethnicity and from every walk of life.
We are utilizing the latest technology to help local affiliates with fundraising, community outreach, research, and member-to-member communication on issues ranging from workplace disputes to political mobilization.
The North East Area Labor Council’s e-Activist Network is one way you can do that. As a network subscriber you receive occasional action alerts when your voice is needed. With one click you can send a fax or e-mail to a key decision maker in Congress, at the White House or an employer who isn't respecting the rights of workers. Send an email requesting subscription to firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up here.
E-Activists have made a difference for workers all over America and done some amazing things in the fight for good jobs, overtime pay, health care, Medicare, fair trade policies and hundreds of fights for workplace justice.
